While it might seem counter-intuitive to use "oil" on the skin to cleanse, oil cleansing is actually a wonderful method for balancing all skin types. The base or "carrier" oils perform essentially a triple function. The carrier oils, while assisting in delivering their own therapeutic benefits also cleanse, and act as transport for the therapeutic benefits of the included essential oils.
Basic chemistry tells us that oil dissolves oil (like dissolves like). Thus, the best way to rid the pores of dried oil, dirt, and bacteria is to dissolve them with oil. But not just any oil, the natural plant derivative oils used by Your Essentials are light and are capable of cleansing the pores while delivering therapeutic benefit to the skin. The natural oils do not sit and dry on the skin like petroleum based oils do. Petroleum based oils can sit on the skin not dissolving or penetrating into the dermis which clogs the pores. The natural plant oils used here penetrate the skin leaving no residue. Just clean and supple skin.
The base oils used in Your Essentials are Castor and Grapeseed. Castor Oil is a wonderful cleansing agent as well as an anti-inflammatory and calming agent. This therapeutic property assists in preventing and/or curing acne issues while delivering a deep clean without the fear of stripping.
Grapeseed oil is used to add nourishing linoleic acid that helps strengthen cell membranes and improve skin health generally. Grapeseed oil is also a powerful antioxidant. Thus, the skin is being nourished outside and in.
OIL CLEANSING MECHANICS
With the principle that oil dissolves oil in mind, massage the cleanser into the skin. The massage not only dissolves and dislodge the impurities. The massaging motion also benefits the skin and gives the underlying facial muscles a workout making them appear firmer. Remember to massage in an upward motion.
Then place a hot cloth over the face. The steam opens the pores, activates the dissolving oil to clean and assist in the removal of pollutants in the pores. The skin will feel supple and hydrated. Not only will you achieve a deep clean, but your skin will be balanced. Dry skin becomes well hydrated. Oily skin will be not be stripped. When the skin is stripped, the sebaceous glands work overtime producing more oil than necessary. The oily skin might feel "drier" at first after a product is used claiming to be "oil free", however, this sensation will not last, and more oil is on the way. Thus, the woman with oilier skin finds herself in a battle with no winners.
Typically, the oil cleansing method should be done at night before bed, so that in the morning, you just need to run a warm damp cloth over your face. Further, when you first start this process, ease yourself into it. Start out twice a week, then boost up the frequency as your skin adjusts. Toxins and old buildup in the pores will be released when this product is used so breakouts may occur in the beginning. Any such breakouts should only last for a couple of weeks. After that time, be prepared for radiant, youthful skin to come forth and catch everyone's attention!
